PIGC Women in Print

We had a fantastic time today at the PIGC – Printing Industries of the Gulf Coast #WomenInPrint luncheon at Harold’s in the Heights. Our very own Joy Zehrbach was the feature speaker!  The topic? Social Media Blitz.

Women representing the printing and graphics arts community of Houston gathered today for networking, education, and comradery.  Our Angel Vierna & Veronica Comisso were there too.  Participating in industry education and networking events is a priority to for us.  Our Joy Z also serves on the Board of the PIGC, and Angel & Veronica serve on the Graphic Excellence Awards planning committees.


We are so excited to be the recipient of 4 Graphic Excellence Awards this year!  We were honored with 3 Awards of Excellence and 1 Best of in the Digital Print – A/R Category.

The Printing Industries of the Gulf Coast conducts this annual, regional print competition which attracted over 250 entries this year.  Two judges from outside of the Gulf Coast region determine the winners, and the judges have varied technical & design expertise, and have served as judges in the international Premier Print Awards known as The Benny’s.

diane joy z and angel at geaWe had a crew working the Printing Industries of the Gulf Coast annual Graphic Excellence Awards on April 5th.  Our Diane Bandemer and Angel Wiener-Vierna served as project managers and for the fourth year in a row, our Joy Z emceed the prestigious Awards Gala.

Over 150 printing companies participated in this distinguished regional print competition, as we honored the continued evolution of the print industry by recognizing amazing companies and the exciting work being produced here in the Gulf Coast region.  Be sure to check out the conversations using #GCGEA!

2016-12-02 04.15.04We are excited to be working with our great partners at Sitebox Group on the rebuild of the Printing Industries of the Gulf Coast (PIGC) website.  This amazing organization represents the regional graphic communications industry and further the cause of the industry in the areas of business, government, and to the general public.

Look for the beautiful and very functional website coming in February 2017!

Zehrbach elected to PIGC BOD

2016-09-05-joy-zOur Joy Zehrbach, (Vice President), was elected to the Board of Directors of The Printing Industry of the Gulf Coast (PIGC).

The PIGC is an industry association available to graphic communications firms in the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast area.  It serves as the official representative of the graphic arts industry in the area and further the cause of the industry in the areas of business, government and to the general public.

Established in 1918 by a group of Houston printers as the Printer’s Education and Publicity Bureau, PIGC is one of the state’s oldest still existing trade associations. In 1920, Houston printers joined with Galveston’s printing industry to form the Houston-Galveston Typothetae and affiliated with the United Typothetae of America (the original name for Printing Industries of America). PIGC is a non-profit corporation in the State of Texas.

PlGC’s members provide leadership and knowledge by serving on the various committees and on its Board of Directors. All activities of the Association including its services, functions and positions are reviewed and studied by committees for recommendations to the Board of Directors.

PIGC is an affiliate of Printing Industries of America . Both PIGC and Printing Industries of America work together to deliver products and services that enhance the growth, efficiency, and profitability of its members and the industry through: advocacy, education, research, and technical information.



In fact, on average, Printing Industries of America members experience growth in sales at a rate 40% greater than the overall industry. Printing Industries of America serves more than 12,000 member firms and their employees with some of them right here in the Texas gulf coast region.

BEB WINS BIG AT PIGC Graphic Excellence Awards

2016 PIGC GEA AWARDSThis year’s Printing Industries of the Gulf Coast Graphic Excellence Awards was an amazing evening for all of us at BEB!  We took home 4 honors, from 4 different categories.

Our first win of the evening brought us a “Best Of” Category for an outside envelope we created for a mailing last April for The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston.







Our second “Best Of” category was for our wide format printing for Rank Rodeo/Backyard Bull Riders barrel wraps.  The application was a favorite among judges!





Our next award came from the variable digital print category for The Houston Texans – A Winning Partnership.







Lastly, we won a Graphic Excellence award for our 2016 BEB interactive calendars!




The sold out crowd consisted of over 300 participants represented over 40 companies in the Houston area.  The best of the best came out to celebrate the power and influence that print has in the marketing community today.  We are proud to a part of this amazing industry and community!

BEB Co-hosts PIGC Graphic Excellence Awards

2016 PIGC GEA AWARDSHouston, TX- This marks the 2nd year that we were invited to co-host The Printing Industries of the Gulf Coast (PIGC) annual awards gala, The Graphic Excellence Awards.

Our Joy Z acted as emcee while our Diane Bandemer, Kathy Hall and Angel Wiener-Vierna worked registration and the silent auction.  Our partner Anne Swanson worked the show with us as well!  The event was a sell out crowd of over 300 people and was held at The Double Tree Hilton – Greenway Plaza.  Business Extension Bureau has been active with the PIGC for over 25 years.

This event brings out the best of the best in the Houston market.  We were honored to work the show as well as compete in this coveted competition.  Read more about our entries and results here!

Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP)

BEB was awarded the AVA Digital Award for outstanding achievement by creative professionals involved in the concept, direction, design and production of media that is part of the evolution of digital communication. Our first place winning entry was for the use of QR Codes in our annual company interactive calendars.

The competition received over 2,500 entries from across the globe. The AVA Digital Awards is sponsored and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). This international organization consists of several thousand production, marketing, advertising and free-lance professionals.


This annual regional print competition recognizes the finest printed materials produced by leading printers and designers in this region. We competed with over 300 participants representing over 40 companies in the Houston area. BEB is thrilled to have received three (3) honors:

The Helsley Lifetime Achievement Award
Epicomm Southwest

Epicomm-Southwest presented its lifetime achievement honor, The Helsley Family Award, to our Joy ZeVector yellow metal golden on bronze plaque with curve on the wooden backgroundhrbach, BEB Vice President.

The presentation was made at the association’s 2015 annual convention in April. Since its inception in 1971, this award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated a long history of significant and outstanding achievement in the marketing service provider industry. It can only be won once, and past recipients select each new winner.  Zehrbach is the third member of BEB to be honored with the award. Ron Royall, President and CEO was given the distinguished honor last year, and his father, Robert “Bob” Royall, founder of BEB-Texas, was presented with the award in 2001.

Secrets of Engaging Mail
